Brightwake Fabrications Ltd specialise in architectural steelwork, structural beams, staircases, bespoke fabrication and CNC plasma cutting.
They are currently looking to recruit a full-timer, permanent Fabrications Estimator at their Head Office based in Blidworth, Nottinghamshire.
Reporting directly to the General Manager, the successful applicant will be responsible for producing accurate and competitive cost estimates for structural and fabrication steel projects. The role supports the business in pricing work correctly, submitting tenders through estimating portals and securing profitable contracts.
Key responsibilities include: -
• Reviewing and interpreting structural steel drawings, fabrication details, specifications and tender documentation
• Carrying out detailed material take-offs and quantifying steelwork requirements.
• Preparing accurate cost estimates covering materials, labour, fabrication time, welding, finishing, transport, installation, subcontractors, overheads and profit margins.
• Preparing and submitting professional quotations and tender submissions.
• Using the company estimating / tender portal to upload and manage tender documents, build and submit estimates, track tender status and support the business in winning new work.
• Liaising with clients, main contractors, supplier, engineers and internal project teams.
• Requesting, assessing and comparing supplier quotations to ensure best value.
• Supporting pricing clarifications and negotiations when required.
• Maintaining accurate records of estimate, cost breakdown and submitted tenders.
The successful candidate will have previous experience in structural steel or fabrication estimating with a strong ability to read and understand technical and engineering drawings. It is essential to have commercial awareness with the ability to price competitively while maintaining margins, experience of estimating portals and the ability to work to deadlines and manage multiple tenders simultaneously.
