Teacher of Physics

Permanent | Easter or September 2026 | Inner London Main Pay Scale

Are you a Physics specialist who values precision, conceptual clarity and academic stretch?

Do you want to work in a STEM faculty where practical science is properly resourced?

Are you an ECT looking for subject-specific mentoring rather than generic support?

An Outstanding Inner London secondary school is seeking a Teacher of Physics to join permanently from Easter or September 2026.

Physics is a strategic priority within the school. In 2025:

• 86% of Triple Science students achieved Grade 4+
• 48% achieved Grades 7–9 in Physics
• Positive progress score maintained for three consecutive years
• Strong uptake of Separate Sciences at GCSE

The Science faculty consists of 14 subject specialists, including dedicated leads for Biology, Chemistry and Physics. The Physics curriculum is carefully sequenced from Year 7 foundations through to GCSE mastery. Practical experiments are embedded throughout, supported by two full-time laboratory technicians.

The school offers:

• Outstanding Ofsted grading
• Fully refurbished science laboratories (completed 2021)
• Specialist Physics teaching rooms
• Clear and consistently applied behaviour systems
• Structured instructional coaching programme
• Centralised curriculum resources to reduce workload
• Strong GCSE intervention systems
• Comprehensive ECT induction with weekly mentor meetings

Lessons follow a consistent whole-school model built around retrieval practice, explicit modelling, guided practice and independent application. Data is used carefully to identify misconceptions early and support intervention.

The department meets weekly for subject-specific CPD, including exam question modelling, practical standardisation and curriculum refinement. There is clear scope for progression into Key Stage leadership for ambitious teachers.

The successful candidate will deliver Physics across KS3 and KS4, support GCSE intervention groups and maintain high expectations for academic discipline and practical safety.

This role would suit a Physics specialist who wants to work in a structured, high-performing environment with strong leadership and genuine professional development.

To apply, please send your CV and cover letter to Ryan at KPI Education.
