Job title: Personal Assistant
Location: Porthcawl
Hours of work: Saturday or Sunday (2 hours a week)
Rate of pay: £13.75
A committed, caring and flexible Personal Assistant is required to support a 5 year old girl with Autism and additional needs, with accessing the community and participating in fun activities.
She particularly enjoys going to soft play, the park and playing outdoors in all weather! She also loves being creative and playing with Play-Doh, sand and other sensory seeking activities.
Individual must have a knowledge of autism and understanding behaviours that may challenge.
Hours are to be worked flexibly as required and agreed in advance, probably 2 hours a week over the weekend term time but flexible days and 4 hours a week during school holidays.
Must have own transport and a full, clean driving licence. A DBS will be required before starting the role.
Main Duties:
• Support and encourage her with activities of interest.
• Support and encourage to try new activities and skills to improve her confidence and abilities.
• Ensure her safety at all times during your working period.
• Support with personal care and toileting.
• Local to the area would be beneficial
• To carry out any other reasonable requests that the employer may make from time to time.
Person Specification
• Active and energetic.
• Proactive individual with local knowledge.
• A good sense of humour.
• Caring, honest, responsible and patient.
• Flexibility around hours of work and main duties of the job.
• Reliable with good time keeping.
• Able to use own initiative and be self-motivated.
• Able to maintain confidentiality and be aware of privacy.
• An ability to develop and maintain a supportive relationship.
• Good Communication and inter-personal skills.
Benefits
5.6 weeks holiday per year (pro rata).
Sick pay at SSP rate if earning £120.00 or more per week.
Training provided to support you in your role.
