1st Fix Duties (Pre-Plaster / Pre-Boarding)
Containment & Infrastructure
Install cable tray, basket, trunking & conduit (PVC/metal)
Install metal or plastic back boxes (flush/surface)
Drill and route cable runs through walls & joists
Install fire-rated cable supports
Install meter tails & main earthing conductors
Install bonding to gas/water services
Install distribution boards (if required at this stage)
Wiring
Run T&E cables for:
Socket circuits (ring/radial)
Lighting circuits
Cooker circuits
Shower circuits
Smoke/heat alarms
Extract fans
Install data/TV cables if included
Label circuits clearly
Ensure compliance with current wiring regulations (e.g., BS 7671)
Other 1st Fix Tasks
Install temporary lighting/power (if required)
Coordinate with other trades (plumbers, dryliners, site manager)
Ensure correct cable zones & safe routes
Maintain site cleanliness and H&S compliance
2nd Fix Duties (Post-Plaster / Final Stage)
Installation
Fit sockets & switches
Install light fittings or pendants
Install consumer unit breakers/RCBOs
Terminate cooker outlets, showers, isolators
Connect extractor fans
Install smoke/heat alarms
Fit data & TV plates
