Join the fight against NHS fraud
We’re looking for a motivated, detail-driven individual to join our team as a Local Counter Fraud Technician.
In this varied and rewarding role, you’ll help protect vital NHS resources from fraud, bribery and corruption, making sure money meant for patient care stays exactly where it should.
Working closely with our Local Counter Fraud Specialist, you’ll support fraud prevention work across a range of organisations. Workstreams include the delivery of training, assisting with fraud detection exercises and playing a key role in building a strong anti-fraud culture, promoting integrity across the NHS.
This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your career, obtain qualifications relevant to the role and gain hands-on experience across a wide range of counter-fraud activities, while building a solid foundation within the NHS Counter Fraud profession.
We’re looking for someone who is:
• Analytical and naturally curious
• Discreet, professional, and upholds strict standards of confidentiality
• An excellent communicator who can deliver fraud awareness training
• Self-motivated with an ability to work independently, take initiative, and be proactive.
• Able to confidently liaise with a diverse range of stakeholders
• Once trained, be able to demonstrate knowledge of legislation relating to fraud, bribery, and corruption
• Travel independently (a full UK drivers’ licence and use of own vehicle is essential).
Applications from candidates that require current Skilled worker sponsorship to work in the UK are unfortunately ineligible to apply for this position.
Be responsible for providing support functions to Local Counter Fraud Specialist/Head of Counter Fraud through a range of activities, to ensure that the Trust delivers an integrated, comprehensive and professional counter fraud service to protect NHS resources from financial abuse.
The post holder will contribute to the agreed anti-fraud work-plans of client organisations. Principle duties will include fraud case management system data entry, stakeholder liaison, handling and recording evidence, developing an anti-fraud culture, detection, deterrence and prevention work. All work to be carried out in accordance with the NHSCFA Counter Fraud Manual, and to a standard required by relevant legislation and best practice.
The post holder will be required to travel and stay away from home periodically as part of their role, operating across a range of client groups.
Employment in this post requires an Stadndard Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.
If you’re ready to make a real difference and help safeguard NHS resources, we’d love to hear from you.

For the main duties and responsibilities for this role please read the attached job description and person specification. When completing your application please ensure your supporting statement reflects the criteria set out in these documents by showing how your experience and skills apply to this post.
We understand that using AI can be a useful and supportive tool when completing your application. However, we have also seen an increase in the over-reliance of AI tools which is negatively impacting applications as they remove candidate’s individuality, and it becomes much harder to get a sense of who you are and your authentic experience. If you do use AI, it should be used to enhance your application and not to create your supporting statement in its entirety. If we suspect you have used AI to create your supporting statement and this does not match your experience, we may withdraw your application.
