Isla Rose is recruiting for a specialised battery solutions manufacturer supplying high-quality, bespoke battery and charger products to a diverse range of customers. With a strong focus on engineering excellence, quality, and customer satisfaction, we are looking to strengthen our leadership team with an experienced Engineering/ Project Manager.
The Role
As Engineering /Project Manager, you will lead a multi-disciplined engineering team and take ownership of engineering projects from concept through to production. You will be responsible for resource planning, technical delivery, cost control, and ensuring projects are delivered on time, to specification, and within budget.
This is a hands-on leadership role, combining people management, project management and technical oversight within a regulated manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead, motivate, and develop a multi-disciplinary engineering team
• Plan and manage engineering resources, priorities, and workloads
• Oversee design activities for new battery and charger products
• Ensure designs, drawings, and technical documentation meet customer and project requirements
• Manage project plans, milestones, costs, risks and customer communication
• Create and manage engineering budgets and project costings
• Compile and review BOMs
• Coordinate compliance and ISO9001 documentation
• Oversee NPI activities from an electronics perspective
• Lead design reviews and sign off engineering documentation
• Support supplier selection and technical liaison
• Ensure electronic and mechanical designs meet performance, approval and cost targets
• Drive continuous improvement of engineering processes and change control
• Attend internal and external customer meetings as required
Team Responsibility
Size of Engineering team: 8 Engineering Team members within the department
About You
You will be an experienced Engineering/ Project Manager or Senior Engineer ready to step into a wider role, with a strong background in electronics and product development within a manufacturing environment.
Key skills and experience include:
• Proven experience leading an engineering team would be ideal
• Strong project management and cost control skills
• Electronics design and development background (battery/charger experience advantageous)
• Experience with NPI and structured design processes
• Knowledge of ISO9001 quality systems
• Ability to work cross-functionally with operations, quality, finance and sales
• Confident communicator with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders
