Responsibilities
Lead and manage the Democratic Services team, ensuring effective and efficient service delivery.
Oversee the planning and execution of council meetings, ensuring compliance with legal and procedural requirements.
Develop and maintain governance frameworks and policies that enhance transparency and accountability.
Facilitate public consultation and engagement initiatives to promote community participation in democratic processes.
Provide expert advice and support to elected officials and council members on governance issues and procedures.
Prepare and present reports, agendas, and minutes for council meetings and committees.
Monitor and ensure compliance with legislative changes affecting democratic services and local governance.
Requirements
Proven experience in a leadership role within a democratic services or governance context.
Strong understanding of local government legislation, procedures, and governance frameworks.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Proven ability to manage teams and develop staff through coaching and mentorship.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Strategic thinker with the ability to analyze complex issues and develop effective solutions.
Commitment to fostering an inclusive environment that promotes equality and diversity within democratic processes.
