Location: Liverpool- Formby |Mainstream Primary | Full-Time| Salary: £500-£560
Graduate 1:1 Teaching Assistant – SEN Focus
Psychology / Core Subject Graduates with SEN Experience
This is not a general classroom support role. This is you, one pupil, and the opportunity to make measurable, lasting impact.
We are seeking a compassionate, capable graduate to provide dedicated 1:1 support to children with additional needs in a welcoming Liverpool primary school.
If you studied Psychology, Education, English, Maths or Science and already have experience supporting children with SEN, this is the type of role that builds serious foundations for a career in education or child development.
The Role – Focused and Impactful
You will:
• Provide consistent 1:1 academic and emotional support
• Support behaviour regulation and structured transitions
• Adapt classwork to meet individual learning needs
• Work towards EHCP targets
• Liaise with the SENCO and class teacher
• Track progress and celebrate developmental milestones
Why Your Degree Matters
• Psychology graduates bring knowledge of behaviour, attachment, cognition and emotional regulation.
• Core subject graduates bring the academic strength needed to break down barriers in English, Maths or Science.
This role is particularly valuable experience for those considering:
• Educational Psychology
• Speech and Language Therapy
• Primary Teaching or SEN Teaching
• Child and Adolescent Mental Health pathways
• The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
• Has prior SEN experience (school, care, youth work, tutoring or similar)
• Understands ASD, ADHD, SEMH or moderate learning difficulties
• Is calm, resilient and proactive
• Can build professional, supportive relationships
• Is serious about pursuing a long-term career in education
• You will become a key adult in this children’s daily routine. Consistency and commitment are essential.
• The School Environment
• Supportive SENCO and leadership team
• Clear behaviour systems in place
• Inclusive and well-structured mainstream setting
• Professional development opportunities
• Strong experience for future postgraduate or teacher training applications
Why This Role Stands Out
• True 1:1 SEN experience develops skills that general classroom roles cannot offer.
• You will gain direct experience in tailored intervention, behaviour strategy implementation and personalised learning support.
• This is hands-on, specialist exposure that strengthens future applications and career progression.
• If you are a graduate looking for responsibility, impact and genuine SEN experience within a Liverpool primary school, this is your opportunity.
