Join us at Stockport Council MJ Local Authority of the Year 2025
Your Role
You will be part of a skilled and supportive team working either with prospective adopters throughout their assessment and preparation journey, or with our partner local authorities to track, plan and progress children’s permanence plans.
Your work may include:
- Completing all stages of adopter recruitment and assessment
- Facilitating preparation and ongoing training for adoptive families
- Providing expert mentoring, advice and guidance to child care social workers
- Leading on family finding to identify, match and place children with adoptive families
- Contributing to high quality Child Permanence Reports and court work where required
- Participating in local, regional and national recruitment and family finding events
Whichever aspect of the service you are working within, the journey of the child sits at the heart of everything we do. You will play a vital role in ensuring children who have experienced trauma are matched with families who can meet their needs and support them throughout their lives.
About You
We are seeking to appoint an experienced social worker who has a good understanding of the issues faced by children who have suffered trauma and the qualities needed in adoptive families to meet those needs. You should be a good communicator, a team player and be passionate about achieving positive outcomes for children.
