Position: Maintenance Technician
Location: Walsall
Hours: Morning and afternoons Monday - Friday
Salary: £46,384 p/a
Summary
Carry out routine and preventative maintenance, diagnose and repair plant faults, and support continuous improvement of equipment reliability, safety and efficiency in a high‑volume manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance on all site equipment and systems.
- Diagnose plant and machinery breakdowns and carry out effective repairs.
- Support and use the CMMS/engineering software to log work, plan maintenance and produce basic reports.
- Help manage engineering spare parts, including requisition, receipt, storage and stock checks.
- Ensure engineering and electrical drawings are maintained and used correctly.
- Inspect completed maintenance and installation work to ensure it meets required standards.
- Support improvement projects to enhance equipment performance, safety and efficiency.
- Liaise with other engineering teams and external contractors as required.
- Follow and support site procedures for health & safety, quality, environment and compliance.
Essential Skills & Experience
- At least 3 years' experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Strong background in planned and preventative maintenance.
- Practical electrical and mechanical maintenance skills.
- Experience working with pneumatic systems (valves, cylinders) and hydraulic systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic engineering drawings.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Experience using a CMMS or similar maintenance software.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills; able to work with colleagues and contractors.
- Experience of basic project planning or small engineering projects.
Qualifications & Certifications
- HNC, City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Engineering.
- Latest edition electrical qualification.
- Relevant health & safety training (as required for role and site).
