Job Introduction
We’re looking for aDomestic Assistantto join ourSodexoteamatDevonshire House. In this vital role, you’ll help create a safe,clean, and welcoming environment for patients, staff, and visitors. Your workwill directly support health and wellbeing throughout the hospital.If you have a strongwork ethic, an eye for detail, and take pride in delivering exceptionalservice, this is your chance to be part of something greater. What you’ll do:
- Carry out scheduled cleaning duties in assigned areas, following all policies and procedures.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness across all areas of responsibility.
- Safely dispose of domestic and clinical waste in line with infection control policies.
- Replenish consumables such as soap, paper towels, and toilet rolls.
- Use and store approved cleaning equipment and chemicals safely, complying with COSHH and PPE requirements.
- Respond to ad-hoc cleaning requests and report maintenance or care issues to supervisors.
- Liaise with clinical staff to provide a patient-focused service.
- Undertake additional housekeeping duties as required, including floor care, bed and sanitary cleaning, waste collection, and stock control.
What you bring:
- Working within a cleaning team, dealing with waste, smells, bodily excretions and dirt
- Show empathy, care and compassion
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, visitors, colleagues, clients
- Ability to work independently, flexibly and professionally– dealing with stressful and changeable situations
- Ability to adhere to instructions, standards and procedures
- Ability to build relationships and show respect for other people
- Positive attitude and enthusiasm
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Excellent customer service skills
- Basic literacy
- Physically able to push a cleaning trolley and move light furniture
- High standard of personal hygiene
