Senior Care Coordinator

Location: Gateshead
Contract: Full-time

As a Senior Care Coordinator, you will be central to delivering safe, reliable, and person-centred care. Your focus will be on ensuring services run smoothly day to day by coordinating staff rotas, responding to operational challenges, and supporting both care staff and service users to achieve the highest standards of care.

You will act as a key link between management, carers, and service users, ensuring care is delivered efficiently, compliantly, and with compassion.

Key Focus Areas & Responsibilities

Care Delivery & Operations

Ensure safe, effective care delivery through accurate and responsive rota planning
Manage short-notice cover, emergencies, and changes to care packages
Maintain continuity of care for service users at all times
Rota & Workforce Management

Coordinate staff rotas in line with contracted hours, availability, and visa restrictions
Manage holidays, sickness, training, inductions, supervisions, and refresher courses within rotas
Support workforce planning to ensure consistent staffing levels
Quality & Compliance

Maintain accurate care records in line with GDPR requirements
Conduct quality spot checks and address performance concerns promptly
Handle complaints and concerns professionally, ensuring positive outcomes
Staff Support & Development

Support carers through clear communication, guidance, and problem-solving
Assist the Deputy Manager / Registered Manager with probation reviews, supervisions, and annual appraisals
Promote fairness, respect, and equality across the workforce
Systems & Flexibility

Operate and maintain the Access IT system, including rota planning, changes, and templating
Provide out-of-hours on-call support as part of a rota (not office based)
Work flexibly to meet the changing needs of the service
What We’re Looking For

Minimum 3 years’ hands-on experience in a domiciliary care environment
Proven experience in care coordination and rota planning
Experance in using Access Care Planning
Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise under pressure
Calm, solutions-focused approach to emergencies and service challenges
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Confident, professional telephone manner
Strong problem-solving, negotiation, and decision-making skills
Commitment to high-quality, person-centred care
Knowledge of Independent Supported Living (desirable)
