- Lead in identifying and progressing their own professional development within the role. - Identify education/developmental needs in clinical practice and provide responsive support and solutions to these needs, sometimes requiring the evaluation of different options. - Manage the developing role of the practitioner by contributing to the change processes through leadership, research, education, training and clinical practice. - Bring and implement relevant national information, policies, guidelines and procedure changes that may impact service provision. - Develop and deliver specific and relevant teaching programmes for all Ophthalmic Imaging practitioners and students, to ensure that staff are equipped to deliver service needs. - Review and evaluate relevant teaching programmes, adjusting these on an on-going basis when required. Lead on the development of new programmes when a need is identified. - Develop and distribute educational material to support staff in practice. - Manage the educational opportunities provided within clinical areas for placement students supporting their learning and mentoring needs as identified alongside the curriculum - Contribute to clinical governance outcomes - Work closely with the service leaders and Education to ensure that any change of provision of services is patient-centred, clinically effective and demonstrates value for money. - Ensure that standards for practice and placement opportunities for students are enhanced in the clinical field. - Develop and use personal clinical knowledge and skills to promote excellence in Ophthalmic Imaging and educate learners. - To communicate effectively with healthcare professionals and patients, sometimes in distressing and sensitive circumstances, using empathy and professionalism in the management of information. - Proven competence to deliver effective and relevant one-to-one patient education, to encourage effective appointment management and reduction in the risks of eye damage. - Competence of accurate image and data handling, including image capture, upload and retrieval, to ensure timely image review as appropriate. - Adhere to all Trust policies and procedures and maintain accurate patient records.
