Crynodeb
The Mental Health Triage and Response team is a dynamic new service which incorporates the Multiple Award winning Street Triage Car, Health Based Places of Safety (HBPoS) and the new Mental Health Crisis Assessment Service ( MHCAS) which fall within the Mersey Care Footprint.
It plays an important role in Mersey Care's response to the national roll out of Right Care Right Person across the region.
The Mental Health Crisis Assessment Service ( MHCAS) is part of the wider Mental Health Triage and Response service, alongside our dedicated Health Based Places of Safety (awarded the Seni Lewis award at the 2024 HSJ Patient Safety Awards) and the Street Triage cars (awarded the2022 NHS parliamentary award for Urgent and Emergency Care)
In this position you will play a key role in leadership and continued development of the service(covering a service operating 24 hours a day 7 days a week), working closely with the leadership team as well as developing relationships with key figures from the acute Trust. The role will include:
The post holder will provide support for the team from a clinical and leadership perspective (covering a service operating 24 hours a day 7 days a week). They will be responsible for supporting the overall standards which will include assessment of need, risk screening and delivery of care in line with the organisations policy and procedures.
The post holder will work to ensure continuity of care for service users on their journey through the service. The post holder will be multi-skilled and adaptable and be expected to be flexible in terms of delivering care within a variety of settings. They will undertake triage and assessments, providing enhanced risk assessment and care delivery to those presenting in mental health crisis.
The post holder will provide appropriate education within the team and wider health economy in line with Key Performance Targets and identified need.
The post holder will support the development of a skilled and flexible workforce within the MH Triage and Response and Mental Health Crisis Assessment Service, ensuring staff are supported in developing and maintaining appropriate level of skills.

Assist in the development and implementation of integrated care pathways, including appropriate service user referrals and models of care.
Participate in case supervision to monitor clinical standards of service user care and documentation.
Participate in regular clinical supervision as per Trust policy.
Ensure the clinical environment is conducive to promote service users health, safety and well being, thereby preserving and respecting each service user’s personal dignity, privacy, religious and cultural beliefs.
Ensure record keeping in accordance with professional and Trust standards.
Work in a professional and collaborative manner with the multi-disciplinary team.
Participate and promote positive intra-agency working.
Participate in the referral process, including the assessment of patients in accordance with the agreed care pathway and the completion of quality reports, where appropriate.
Responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care without supervision and act as care co-ordinator, as required.
Participate and assist in setting standards of service user care based on sound research findings.
2) MANAGERIAL
Deputise for the Operational Manager, as required.
Undertake delegated responsibilities as agreed with Operational Manager.
Support the formulation and implementation of clinical and operational practices and procedures, as appropriate.
Participate in the recruitment, selection and induction of new staff
Participate the team’s emergency self-harm rota requirement based on service needs
Assist in the management and coordination of all services delivered to the service user within the clinical.
Support the implementation, monitoring and updating of an operational policy and philosophy for the clinical area
Ensure the principles of clinical governance are incorporated in service delivery in maintaining a high quality service based on agreed clinical standards
Ensure that service users are cared for within the confines of their respective Mental Health Act status and adhere to the requirements of the MHA 1983 and the corresponding Code of Practice. This may include liaison with the home office for restricted service users
Ensure adherence and implementation of Effective Care Coordination
Ensure that Trust policies and procedures are adhered to
Assist in the development of local protocols to ensure a high standard of service delivery is achieved and maintained
Support the process of staff participation in the formulation of new ideas/suggestions to improve service user care and service delivery
Provide effective leadership within the designated team
Provide statistical information as required
Assist in the maintenance and updating of the team’s equipment inventories and service schedules. Ensure regular servicing, maintenance, repair or replacement, as required, adhering to Health & Safety, COSHH and Medical Devised Agency regulations
Ensure effective processes of communication are established, maintained and regularly evaluated within designated team
Assist in the investigation of complaints and incidents at team level in accordance with Trust policy
Participate in Serious Untoward Incident investigations/reviews, as required
Coordinate utilities, equipment and services and report/refer issues to respective managers, where necessary
Provide relevant staff with the necessary management supervision regarding the coordination and delegation of duties to ensure a comprehensive and consistent delivery of care is maintained
Ensure that the practice of the clinical area adheres to the Trust’s policies and procedures
Participate in managerial supervision
Appropriate participation in managing performance of staff, as required
Appropriate participation in managing attendance of staff, as required
