This role is pro rata so the salary you will be receiving is £22,081.85 – £22,219.01 per annum.

Any offers of appointment will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check (formerly CRB), a certificate of good conduct if applicable, plus receipt of satisfactory references, Occupational Health clearance, an understanding of safeguarding and qualifications verification. An Enhanced DBS check is required for this position as you will be working within 'Regulated Activity' within a specific place (i.e. the College).

This role is classed as working within Regulated Activity. It is an offence to apply for this role if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children. By applying for this position, you agree to an Enhanced DBS check in line with DBS regulations.

BACKGROUND TO THE POST

The requests for enhanced transitions have increased in recent years and so we are now in a position to welcome another Enhanced Transition Coordinator to join our team.
The main purpose of the post is to provide applicants to WCG with an enhanced transition in line with the needs outlined in their EHCP. Students requiring an enhanced transition most often have a diagnosis of, although not limited to, autism, ADHD and/or SEMH needs.
The role also includes visiting local specialist schools, alternative provisions, resources bases and hospital education to meet prospective students and discuss our support offer.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

May include but are not limited to:

• Assist in a bespoke enhanced transition for high needs students to the mainstream college. This transition starts when the student has an interest in the college and finishes when the student is settled on the correct course. If necessary, help with transition to a more appropriate course.
• If required, support high needs students in their classes.
• The transition will be determined by the Education, Health and Care Plan and costs.
• Regular transition visits.
• Contact with the current education setting and parents/carers. Regular contact with local authorities.
• Explore different courses and options for students
• Create partnerships with local authorities and local specialist provisions
• Keep regular transition notes and input information onto shared spreadsheets.
• Create working partnerships with SEN specialist provisions and mainstream settings, so they are aware of what the college can offer high needs students and the support available.
• Visit local SEN schools to meet and build relationships with Inclusion staff.
• Travel to all WCG college sites and to potential feeder schools.
• Attend Education, Health and Care Plan reviews and/or Children in Need meetings for prospective students.
• Regular contact and meetings with the Specialist Support Lead and SEN Team Leaders to ensure the correct support is in place and the costs are correct.
• Attend college Open Events across all sites if necessary.
• Arrange group visits to see the college during working hours.
• Record all information, dates, contact details on Transition files and Inclusion spreadsheets. Make sure admin is recorded and shared to the necessary people. This will ensure that all Inclusion Leads are kept up to date with information on new students.
• To attend college delivered ‘Teaching Essentials’ training

OFFERS OF WORK

For the successful candidate a conditional offer of work will be made. Our offer of work will be conditional upon a number of mandatory pre-employment checks, to include but not limited to: DBS, Barred List check, right to work check, internet search, TRA check (academic posts).

ESSENTIAL ATTAINMENTS

✓GCSE Grade C or above in English and Mathematics, or Level 2 equivalent qualification.
✓A professional, academic or vocational qualification at Level 2.
✓A qualification relevant to Specific Learning Difficulties at Level 2 or above.
✓Excellent administrative and organisational skills.
✓Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
✓A driving licence free of major endorsements and the use of a motor vehicle
✓Working knowledge of information technology such as e-mail, the internet and other software applications
✓Experience of working with SEND students.
✓Knowledge of SEN Code of Conduct and the Education and Health Care Plan.
