Job Purpose
The primary purpose of this role is to support the day-to-day running of the Centre’s kitchen, ensuring meals are prepared and served safely and to a high standard. Occasionally, the post-holder may be required to assist with basic care and support duties to help maintain the smooth operation of the Centre and support service users when needed.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Kitchen-Based Duties
You will be responsible for preparing and serving a light breakfast, preparing and serving lunch, (most lunches are brought in from external provider, but you will be responsible for making sandwiches for a few clients, and desert for everyone), and preparing tea and biscuits in the afternoon for our clients. You will also need to cater for individual dietary needs and preferences, including allergies and medical conditions for up to 20 people a day. After meals, you will clean and clear away dishes and ensure the kitchen is maintained to a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene at all times. Adhering to food safety regulations is essential. This is a rewarding opportunity to contribute to the well-being of people living with dementia in a caring, respectful environment.
Care and Support Duties (Occasional)
Provide assistance to service users when required, such as supporting mobility or offering reassurance. Promote dignity, respect and wellbeing at all times. Support staff during activities or mealtimes if extra help is needed. Report any concerns regarding service users’ wellbeing to senior staff.
Provide high-quality personal care including assisting with toileting and mobility, while promoting dignity and independence. Offer companionship and emotional support, responding to social and emotional needs throughout the day. Administer or prompt medication as directed, and monitor health or wellbeing, reporting changes to senior staff. Maintain accurate care records and documentation of care delivered. Adhere to all health, safety and safeguarding guidelines, reporting any concerns promptly. Encourage social participation and activities, supporting engagement in communal areas or day-centre programmes.
