Summer Receptionist

Location: Glasgow, G2 4DQ
Grade 2, £23,742 to £24,215 per annum pro rata
Fixed Term: 6th May – 31st October 2026
Hours: 1 x 21 hours and 2 x 14 hour (7 day working pattern, flexibility in line with rota)
The Glasgow School of Art is seeking to recruit 3 fixed-term Summer Receptionists for their Halls of Residence. GSA Halls operates as a Glasgow city centre Hostel during the summer months, and these roles are essential in supporting the peak operating season, running from May to October. The Summer Hostel experiences rapid turnover throughout the summer, including mass departures and arrivals at the start and end of the season.
This is a busy role and the post-holder will be over-seeing the daily running of the reception, which will involve:
• Preparing for arrivals and departures for our guests and residents
• Maintaining good customer experience for our guests & residents
• Assisting with the preparation of accommodation for our guest and student markets
• Supporting the accommodation team with their role in managing GSA Halls
Working Pattern
The reception area requires cover between 9.00am – 5.00pm, over 7 days. The working hours of the Summer Receptionists are likely to include afternoons, occasional evenings (for mass arrivals), and weekends, rota dependant.
Occasional additional hours may be available to cover colleagues leave or sickness. A flexible approach to working is essential.
The hours that are available are as follows:
• Roles 1 & 2 - 14 hours per week over 2 days, on a weekly rota basis, normally Fri & Sat OR Sun & Mon
• Role 3 – 21 hours per week over 3 days, on a weekly rota basis, normally Tues - Thurs
