University Hospitals Bristol & Weston NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Clinical Teaching Fellow Y4to join the experienced team in North Somerset Academy at Weston General Hospital. The Clinical Teaching Fellow (CTF) is a key member of the Undergraduate Medical Education Team of North Somerset Academy, based inWeston General Hospital. This post offers the opportunity to become intensively involved in Medical and Surgical Education of Medical and Dental Students, whilst maintaining clinical exposure and experience in a supportive educational environment. The prime function of the post holder is as a teacher delivering core content and tutorials for medical students inYear 4of the undergraduate curriculum of the University of Bristol MBchB programme – specifically the Complex Medicine units. Teaching will take place in a variety of forms: Small group tutorials, larger group tutorials, skill based practical sessions, bedside clinical teaching and clinic based history and examination and simulation of clinical scenarios.
Clinical Teaching Fellows play a key role in delivering Undergraduate Medical Education forUniversity of Bristol medical students.This role covers Year 4.
• 8 teaching sessions per week: Teaching, tutoring, and pastoral support
• 2 clinical session per week: in Care of the Elderly department
• Opportunity to complete a fundedPostgraduateMedical Education Certificate(from an approved list)
• Involvement ineducational research
Teaching responsibilities span Years 2–5, focusing on:
•Year 4:Focus on Complex Medicine as part of the ‘life-cycle year’ in two separate units
You’ll get involved in bedside teaching, small group teaching, tutorials, and helping run assessments both locally and with the Medical School. You will join a wider faculty of Clinical Teaching Fellows across UHBW, contributing to high-quality teaching, student support, and curriculum delivery.

North Somerset Academy is one of 8 Academies forming the University of Bristol Medical School.
This full-time post is for 8 teaching sessions and 2 clinical sessions undertaken in Care of the Elderly department (no out of hours requirement).
Objectives of the Post:
• To develop competence in teaching and develop teaching skills through studying a Certificate in Medical Education
• To develop and deliver the Complex Medicine units for 4thyear Medical Students The post holder will work closely with the Undergraduate Medical Education team to plan and deliver the units. New course design will require some flexibility.
• To support the 2nd, 3rdand 5thyear undergraduate teaching programmes, including the development of teaching materials and enhancement of learning within the clinical skills lab with the other CTFs.
• Act as a professional role model and mentor for the student body during their placements.
• Supervise the generic professional behaviours/skills that are expected of the students - and demonstrate these at all times.
• Contribute and participate in the assessment process for medical students
• The post holder should be flexible, professional and co-operative within the evolving needs of the clinical academy.
• It may be necessary to attend university meetings in Bristol or examine in other academies.
You will be expected work 40 hours per week (flexible, but indicative timetable given as example) - clinical work limited to set days – on all other days teaching takes priority.
