Summary
We are looking for a Band 5 Occupational Therapist to join our specialist Personality Disorder Community Service. We welcome thoughtful and motivated candidates who enjoy working in a team, have experience of working with people with a diagnosis of Personality Disorder and would like to progress their learning and experience with this patient group.
The successful applicant will contribute to the facilitation of Occupational Therapy led groups and individual 1-1 work, as well as contributing the work of the wider personality disorder services, under the supervision of a Senior Occupational Therapist.
The Personality Disorder Community Service (PDCS) is a specialist outpatient service offering NICE recommended treatment options to adults 17-65 years who present with increased needs and risk in the context of their Personality Disorder. Our main treatment offers include Mentalisation Based Therapy (MBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) an Occupational Therapy Pathway and an engagement and formulation pathway, informed by a Structured Clinical Management model. PDCS have a highly specialist and supportive Multi-Disciplinary Team, we manage and think about the risk our service users present with within a wrap-around MDT and there is a strong emphasis on reflection within our practice.

To contribute Occupational Therapy knowledge, skills and expertise within the Personality Disorder Community Service (PDCS)/Relational and Emotional Disorders Service (REDS).
The post holder will be responsible for conducting other specialist assessments to aid understanding of service users’ functional skills and sensory sensitivities under supervision of a Senior Occupational Therapist.
The post holder will contribute to the facilitation of psychoeducation and information-giving sessions and possible deliver / co- deliver group based sessions.
The post holder will contribute to the facilitation of Occupational Therapy led groups at PDCS/REDS under the Supervision of a Senior Occupational Therapist.

1. The post holder will demonstrate specialist knowledge and clinical skill in relation to Occupational therapy.
2. To have an understanding of Health and Social Care policy and legislation for theservice user group, in relation to professional practice.
3. The post holder will provide specialist occupational therapy interventions underpinned by the Model of Human Occupation and the principles of recovery and enablement.
4. The post holder will manage a caseload under the supervision of a senior Occupational Therapist, within the multidisciplinary context of the team.
5. The post holder will apply an understanding of the effects of disability on occupational performance and provide training and advice on lifestyle changes and adaptations to the service user’s social and physical environment.
6. The post holder will ensure that all modification to treatment plans/interventions will involve the service user and where appropriate the carer; collaboratively identifying and reviewing goals in the context of care planning.
7. The post holder will plan and implement individual and/or group interventions collaboratively, to enable service users to achieve valued goals and satisfactory occupational performance outcomes.
8. The post holder will promote equality of outcome for service users that reflect their mental health needs and those of ethnicity, gender, culture, physical health, and age.
9. The post holder will promote social inclusion and physical and mental well-being using evidence-based practice.
10.The post holder will work collaboratively with all disciplines as part of a multidisciplinary team (MDT) and across partner agencies to assure a high standard of care for service users and their relatives/carers.
