Assistant Site Manager - Timber Frame New Build Housing

Location: Manchester

Rate: £22 - £24 an hour

Job Type: Freelance

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Site Manager with a strong background in timber frame new build housing to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity to work on high-quality residential developments and support the successful delivery of projects from groundwork through to completion.

You will work closely with the Site Manager to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the day-to-day management of timber frame housing developments

  • Support coordination of subcontractors, suppliers, and trades on site

  • Ensure all work is carried out in line with drawings, specifications, and building regulations

  • Monitor progress against programme and report on milestones

  • Maintain high standards of health & safety and ensure site compliance

  • Conduct site inductions and toolbox talks

  • Assist with quality control inspections and snagging

  • Ensure materials are ordered, delivered, and stored correctly

  • Liaise with clients, inspectors, and NHBC/building control as required

Requirements
  • Proven experience as an Assistant Site Manager (or strong Trainee Site Manager ready to step up)

  • Demonstrable experience working on timber frame residential developments

  • Strong understanding of timber frame sequencing and construction processes

  • Good knowledge of NHBC standards and building regulations

  • SMSTS or SSSTS

  • Valid CSCS Card

  • First Aid at Work certification

  • Strong organisational and communication skills

  • Ability to work proactively and solve problems on site
