Support Worker
Darlington
£13.78 per hour, Must be able to do 2 or 3 sleeps in a week
Full time - 30hrs a week
Every day is an opportunity to create impact, joy, and independence for the people we support. Your work, whether direct, or behind the scenes, contributes to unforgettable moments that change lives.
Dimensions is proud to be one of very few social care organisations that are accredited by the Great Places To Work programme in 2025 - now 7 years in a row!
About the role
You'll be supporting a gentleman in late 40s, who has learning disabilities and autism. He communicates mainly without words but uses Makaton and occasional simple speech. He responds best to clear, calm communication and patient support.
Routine is very important to him. When he becomes anxious, he can express this through self-hitting or vocalisations, so he needs staff who are confident, understanding, and able to provide reassurance.
He has a brilliant personality and enjoys a wide range of hobbies, including:
- Trains
- Planes
- Loud music
- Car journeys
- Going out for meals and drinks
He can spend long periods happily engaged in activities he enjoys, and he thrives with support that helps him make the most of these interests.
What You'll Be Supporting With
He is independent with eating and drinking, but needs regular support with:
Some aspects of personal care
Medication
Household tasks such as cleaning
Maintaining daily routines
Feeling safe and calm when anxious
Your support will help him stay comfortable, confident and empowered at home and in the community.
Shift pattern: 10am - 10pm + Sleep or 3pm - 10pm + sleep
Must be available to do 2 or 3 sleeps per week!
