Security Officer - Retail Outlet
£13.95 per hour | Full Time | Permanent (Average 38 hours per week)
We are looking for a confident, people-focused Security Officer to join our team at a busy retail and leisure outlet. This is a highly visible, hands-on role where professionalism, calm authority, and approachability all matter.
You'll work a mix of day and night shifts, playing a key part in creating an environment where customers, colleagues, and retailers feel safe, supported, and welcome.
This role suits someone alert and decisive, yet friendly and respectful, able to take control when needed, while building positive relationships across the Centre.
Key Responsibilities
-Carrying out regular patrols and monitoring the retail centre with care and attention
-Providing a reassuring, professional, and approachable security presence
-Responding confidently to incidents, emergencies, and evacuations
-Working collaboratively with colleagues to deter theft and prevent security breaches
-Supporting the safety and smooth operation of the Centre during evening trading and the night-time economy
-Managing vehicle movements to promote safety and reduce congestion
-Staying alert to risks such as fire, flooding, or other hazards and acting swiftly and responsibly
What We're Looking For
-A valid SIA Licence (Door Supervisor or Security Guarding)
-Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a natural ability to engage with people
-A calm, confident presence, especially in challenging or high-pressure situations
-The ability to work independently while being a reliable and supportive team member
-Excellent attention to detail and effective time management
-A verifiable 5-year employment history
