Job Description
As a Relief Chef, your primary responsibility will be to provide support and ensure the smooth operation of our kitchens during periods of staff absence or increased demand. The ability to work independently is key, due to the varying sizes of our locations.
You will be responsible for preparing and cooking high-quality meals, adhering to established recipes and food safety standards. Your ability to adapt quickly, maintain composure under pressure, and deliver exceptional culinary creations will be essential to succeed in this role.
• Prepare and cook a wide variety of dishes, including appetizers, entrees, and desserts, according to established recipes and culinary standards.
• Collaborate with the head chef or kitchen manager to ensure the timely execution of menu items, maintaining consistency and quality across all dishes.
• Assist in all areas of the kitchen, including food preparation, cooking, plating, and presentation, while adhering to food safety and hygiene regulations.
• Adapt quickly to changing circumstances, such as adjusting to different kitchen environments, menus, and dietary restrictions, while maintaining high standards.
• Effectively manage time and prioritize tasks to meet service deadlines, ensuring minimal disruption to the overall kitchen operations.
• Work collaboratively with the kitchen staff to maintain a positive and productive work environment, providing assistance and guidance when required.
• Strictly adhere to all food safety and sanitation guidelines, including proper storage, handling, and labeling of ingredients to maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment.
• Monitor and maintain the quality of food preparation and presentation, ensuring that all dishes meet the established standards of taste, texture, and appearance.
• Assist in inventory control by monitoring stock levels, notifying the appropriate personnel of any shortages, and assisting in the ordering process.
• Share knowledge and culinary skills with other team members, providing guidance and support to promote continuous improvement.
Qualifications
• Extensive knowledge of various cooking techniques and culinary principles.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
• Ability to work well under pressure and adapt to changing circumstances.
• Understanding of food safety and sanitation regulations.
• Must have a full clean driving License with access to your own vehicle for travel - Travel expenses paid twice monthly
