Do you have an interest in Building Control?

The East Sussex Building Control Partnership exists to protect the health and safety of people within in the built environment. We are the first port of contact for Building Control Customers (Residential/Professional) within the Partnering Authorities of Wealden, Eastbourne, Rother & Hastings.



Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a new friendly, self-motivated, team member with a flexible approach and exceptional customer service skills.

As the Partnership is in direct competition with the private sector, you will promote the Building Control service through a positive, professional and friendly manner whilst upholding Wealden council’s values.



What will the role involve?

You will receive a high-volume of calls throughout the day whilst multi-tasking a variety of administrative tasks.

As a Technical Support Assistant, you will provide support to new, existing and prospective customers by utilising specialised knowledge regarding the regulations surrounding the construction process.

A key function is to provide administrative and clerical support to the Building Control Inspectors, plan checkers and departmental management team.

What skills, knowledge and abilities do you require for the role?

Essential:

· Experience in a high-pressured working environment.

· Considerable experience working in an office environment.

· Capability to effectively manage multiple work tasks, whilst answering incoming calls.

· Strong attention to detail with self-motivation to complete a job accurately.

· A flexible approach to working arrangements.

· Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

· Willingness and ability to quickly learn new tasks.

· Provides a high quality, consistent, customer-focused service, even in high demand periods.

· Good organisational skills.

· Friendly personality who enjoys dealing with telephone enquiries.

· Provides a “Can-do” attitude.

· A good level of educational attainments e.g. GCSE grade C (or above grade 4) or above in Maths and English (or equivalent qualification).

Desirable:

· Knowledge and experience of working within a Building Control environment.

· Customer Service Experience.

· Knowledge & experience of working within a Local Authority organisation.

· Knowledge & experience with Microsoft packages.

· Experience with Mastergov, MiCollab, Ignite and Adelante.

· Knowledge of Building Control practices.

· Experience of working with targets (KPIs)
