The Department The UECC is located on the main hospital site on the same level as the surgical wards, Acute Medical Unit, theatres, critical care and radiology, giving easy access to all. Medical Same Day Emergency Care is adjacent. The Emergency department currently uses the Meditech EPR. Total annual attendances are approximately 120,000 per year. The department consists of 6 bed glass cubicle resus room with 1 paediatric bay 4 bed Rapid initial assessment area 20 bed Majors area Large waiting area with 9 assessment rooms for minors including ENT/EYE specific room with slit lamp. Separate Paediatric area with 5 assessment rooms and a separate waiting room. Second storey offices including seminar rooms, changing rooms with showers. Medical Workforce for UECC Consultants 18 Consultants 1 Specialist Higher Doctors in training 10 Higher Specialty Trainees 2 Senior Clinical Fellows 7 Specialty Doctors Resident Doctors in training 6 ACCS Trainees 4 GP Trainees 1 Foundation Year 2 Trainee 14 Junior Clinical Fellows ACPs and ENPs 12 ACPs 8 ENPs The UECC does not, and will not employ Physicians Associates. The Post Emergency and Acute Medicine are working collaboratively to develop quality services for patients presenting with acute conditions. Appointment to this post will add to the team of dedicated and highly motivated EmergencyMedicine Consultants. The successful applicants will have wide training and experience in Emergency Medicine. The post holders will be encouraged to develop specialist interests to fit in with the departmental scope of practice. There are a number of opportunities for specific roles within the department including paediatrics. Candidates are encouraged to discuss any areas of interest with the clinical lead. Related research ideas are welcome. At present the UECC at Rotherham NHS Foundation trust provides a 24-hour emergency service to a population in excess of 255,000. The consultant rota is a self-rostered annualised rota providing consultant shop-floor presence from 8am to midnight seven days a week. The successful candidate will work across all areas of the emergency department, managing both adult and paediatric patients and contributing to the on-call rota.
