The Welsh Ambulance Services is a leader in the delivery of emergency care within the health system in Wales. The Trust provides exceptional patient care across the whole of Wales provided by both staff and volunteers. Our volunteers undertake a variety of roles, including Community First Responders (CFRs),Community Welfare Responders (CWR) and Volunteer Car Service (VCS) . These roles make a significant and valued contribution to Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trusts ability to respond to emergency 999 calls in a timely manner. They operate within their local communities, working closely with clinicians based in the Trusts Clinical Contact Centre. This helps to ensure that patients receive a timely response to 999 calls and good quality, safe, appropriate assessment and care whilst it is determined whether an emergency ambulance and potentially conveyance to hospital is required.
