Two Year Group Leader Roles (EYFS – Year 6)
Are you chomping at the bit to be part of an OFSTED Outstanding Leadership Team? Are you looking for the next step in your career and to access the highest quality CPD? Our Year Leaders have a proven track record of promotion to Deputy Headship.
Whether you are an excellent Early Years Practitioner with a passion for innovative continuous provision, a Key Stage 1 teacher who has transformed Early Writing, or a Key Stage 2 teacher who loves to apply the latest research to close gaps, we want to hear from you!
At St Leonard’s, we are committed to long term, sustainable change to improve the provision, standards and outcomes for pupils. We want all doors to be open to our children, regardless of their background or barriers that they face, and we strive to be a beacon for our community, as recognised by an Outstanding Personal Development judgement. The successful candidate will help shape the future innovation and development of our school as we endeavour to be leaders of education in Devon.
Early Years Leader
One Year Leader post is to lead the Early Years Team. We are wholly committed to the principles of the EYFS: a unique child, positive relationships, enabling environments and learning and development. We are looking for someone who is motivated about developing the Early Years curriculum, raising standards and providing stimulating learning experiences for young minds. Although we already have a successful and thriving unit, this is an opportunity for positive change: to build on strong foundations and bring your own passion to help give every child the best start in life.
KS1 or KS2 Year Leader
Our Year Leaders have been instrumental in driving school improvement and raising outcomes for our children. We work as a team of like-minded professionals, operating in a genuinely distributed leadership model.
We have some flexibility within our current Year Leader team and so are interested to see where the successful candidate feels their strengths lie. We are interested to know what year groups you feel passionate about and why.
We offer:
• A genuine and friendly school with a strong Christian ethos and set of values that underpin all that we do
• Exceptional children who are articulate, happy and motivated to learn
• A happy, stable staffing team
• A headteacher who puts children at the heart of all decision making
• A commitment to your leadership development, which includes designated Year Leader days for us to work strategically together
• Unique and bespoke facilities to deliver an outstanding curriculum, such as: Tardis-like grounds, a Computing Suite of brand-new Apple Macs, a newly developed Library and a fully fitted Cookery Hive
• Research-driven CPD specifically tailored to our school’s needs
• Opportunities for future career development across our family of 21 schools within the St Christopher’s Trust
The successful candidate will:
• Be emotionally intelligent and ambitious for all
• Have adaptative leadership skills that creates a climate for growth and change and an ability to inspire and empower others
• Thrive on challenge
• Be dedicated to removing barriers to learning for pupils and a steadfast belief that every child can achieve
• Strong subject and pedagogical knowledge
• Be happy to support the Church of England ethos of our school though our school values
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. An enhanced DBS Disclosure is required for this post.
Applications should be submitted by 8am, Monday 9th March 2026.
Interviews are scheduled for Wednesday 25th March. Successfully shortlisted candidates will be asked to send in a virtual tour of their current class and to teach on the interview day at St Leonard’s.
Tours to visit us are strongly recommended. Please book in with our admin team on 01392 666570.
