We are seeking a reliable and hardworking School Caretaker / Site Assistant to join a thriving Primary School in Bristol. This is a key role responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and well-presented school environment for pupils, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
• Carry out general maintenance, repairs, and site improvements
• Ensure the security of the school site, including unlocking and locking the premises
• Monitor and maintain heating, lighting, alarms, and other utilities
• Maintain school grounds to a clean, tidy, and presentable standard
• Support health & safety compliance across the site
• Conduct routine checks and risk awareness duties
• Liaise with external contractors and suppliers when required
• Act as a keyholder
Requirements
• Previous experience as a Caretaker, Site Assistant, Site Manager, or Maintenance Operative (desirable)
• Strong practical maintenance and DIY skills
• Good knowledge of health and safety procedures
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Reliable, flexible, and proactive approach to work
• Willingness to undertake out-of-hours duties when required
Safeguarding
• An Enhanced DBS (Child Workforce) is required
• Applicants must be able to provide at least two professional references
