SEND 121 Teaching Assistant – Part-time, long-term temporary and ongoing role starting as soon as possible

Staff work collaboratively to support pupils’ emotional regulation, communication, and engagement in learning. Leaders ensure that adults feel well supported, helping pupils build confidence, independence, and positive learning habits.
Duties as SEND 121 Teaching Assistant:
- Provide 1:1 support for a 22-year-old learner with complex Autism and EAL needs
- Work Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9am to 2pm each week
- Support communication, routine, and emotional regulation strategies
- Assist with engagement during classroom activities and therapeutic tasks
- Use calm, consistent approaches to help reduce anxiety and promote focus
- Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff across a small alternative provision
- Adapt approaches to meet varied learning and sensory needs
- Uphold safeguarding expectations and prioritise pupil welfare
- Experience supporting pupils with complex Autism and EAL needs
- Confident working in a secondary alternative provision environment
- Calm, patient, and resilient when supporting dysregulated behaviours
- Able to build rapport and trust through consistent communication and routine
- Good teamwork and communication skills
- Adaptable and proactive in meeting individual learning needs
