Join Our Team as a Skilled Maintenance Technician at Brooklands Museum!

Are you a hands-on problem solver with a passion for keeping historic sites in tip-top condition? Brooklands Museum is looking for a Skilled Maintenance Technician to help maintain and enhance our iconic site, ensuring every visitor, volunteer, and staff member experiences the very best.

Location: Brooklands Museum

Hours: Permanent, full-time – 37.5 hours/week, five days out of seven (weekends included). Work on bank holidays is required, with time off in lieu. Occasional evening work may be needed.

Reports to: Facilities Manager

What You’ll Do:
As part of our maintenance team, you’ll:

Keep our historic buildings, facilities, and grounds safe, functional, and welcoming.
Carry out minor mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and general building repairs.
Assist with event setup and takedown, including portable toilets, AV systems, signage, and barriers.
Operate machinery such as cherry pickers, MEWPs, forklifts, tractors, ride-on mowers, and more (training provided).
Support volunteers and contractors, ensuring tasks are completed safely and to high standards.
Help prepare the site for extreme weather and maintain equipment like snow-clearing tools, grit, and salt.
Keep workshops, storage, and compounds tidy and compliant with health and safety regulations.
Be part of the Museum’s first aid response team.


Who You Are:

Experienced in maintenance tasks across plumbing, carpentry, painting, decorating, and general site upkeep.
Confident working at height and comfortable using tools and machinery.
Proactive, flexible, and ready to ‘get stuck in’ wherever needed.
A team player with excellent communication skills, able to work with staff, volunteers, and the public.
Holder of a full driving licence (forklift or cherry picker licence is an advantage; training available).
Willing to undertake First Aid at Work certification if not already qualified.
