Crynodeb

St Osmund’s Catholic Primary School is a joyful and inclusive one-form-entry school in the heart of Salisbury. Rooted in our mission, Love for God, Love for Each Other, Love for Learning, we are proud to be a school where every child is known, valued and encouraged to flourish.

Our children are curious, kind and eager to learn, and we work as a supportive, collegiate staff team with a shared commitment to high expectations, excellent teaching, and nurturing care.

Our School:

We are Wiltshire’s most culturally diverse primary school. We serve a wonderful community, with families from many cultures and languages and a strong commitment to inclusion and meeting a wide range of needs, including pupils with SEND.

We have an excellent local reputation, a distinctive Catholic ethos, and a calm, purposeful environment where children’s wellbeing and learning go hand in hand. Staff at St Osmund’s benefit from a warm team culture, strong professional development, and the chance to make a genuine difference every day.

All about the role:

A unique and rare opportunity has arisen to work as a Teaching Assistant at our happy, diverse and forward-thinking school. We are a welcoming and highly successful school, with children who are excited, eager to learn and behave wonderfully.

We are seeking to appoint a caring, enthusiastic and committed Teaching Assistant to join our fabulous team and support children’s learning and inclusion across the school.

The role will involve working with pupils in class, in small groups, and occasionally on a 1:1 basis, helping children to access learning, build confidence, and develop independence.

Key responsibilities will include:

Supporting pupils’ learning in literacy, numeracy, communication, and social development
Helping to adapt and scaffold learning activities so that all children can succeed
Promoting positive behaviour, inclusion and emotional wellbeing
Working closely with class teachers and the SENDCo to support individual needs and pupil progress
Building warm, professional relationships with children, parents and colleagues
Supporting the wider life of the school, including trips, enrichment activities and daily routines
Administering minor first aid and contributing to a safe, nurturing environment
We are looking for someone who:

Is patient, kind, resilient and child-centred
Has high expectations and a genuine belief in every child’s potential
Enjoys working as part of a supportive and professional team
Communicates clearly and positively with both children and adults
Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
In return, we can offer:

Wonderful children who are a joy to work with
A welcoming and supportive staff team
Training and professional development opportunities
A school culture rooted in inclusion, ambition and care
We warmly encourage prospective applicants to visit the school. St Osmund’s is best understood in person, and our children are the very best ambassadors of what we value.
