Summary
ZEN Educate is seeking a committed and professional Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant to support pupils within a dedicated SEND provision in Hexham. This role is ideal for individuals with a strong understanding of special educational needs who are looking to make a meaningful contribution within a structured educational environment.
The successful candidate will work under the direction of teaching staff and senior leaders to provide high-quality support to pupils with a range of additional needs, ensuring they are able to engage fully with their learning and development.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide targeted one-to-one and small group support to pupils with SEND
- Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and tailored learning strategies
- Support pupils' academic, social, emotional, and behavioural development
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
- Implement behaviour management strategies in line with school policies
- Support pupils with personal care where required, in a dignified and professional manner
- Liaise effectively with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals
- Monitor and record pupil progress, reporting concerns as appropriate
Essential Requirements
- An enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for and fund a DBS through AK Teaching
- Previous experience working within a SEND setting, which is highly advantageous
- Experience supporting pupils with needs such as Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, or learning difficulties
- A calm, patient, and professional approach
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Working Hours
- Monday to Friday
- Term-time only
- No weekend working required
