What skills and experience we're looking for
Carterknowle School is located in a diverse and vibrant area of Sheffield between Nether Edge and Millhouses. Carterknowle Junior school is a lovely school, with fantastic children and staff. We are committed to meeting children’s individual needs, working in partnership with parents and carers across the Holt House and Carterknowle Federation.
We are looking for a caretaker who enjoys working in a school atmosphere and wants to provide an excellent and flexible service to both the school and its families. The main duties of the post will be site security, maintaining the cleanliness of the school to a high standard, handyperson jobs, porterage, sweeping up leaves and weeding. The successful candidate will be based at Carterknowle and will work in partnership with the Buildings Officer, who is based at Holt House. There will be flexible working with the federated school of Holt House (a three minute walk from Carterknowle).
What the school offers its staff
We are a high achieving school in the local authority and are committed to staff professional development. We can offer you a friendly and supportive working environment within a community atmosphere. The caretaker is responsible to the school Admin Manager and will be expected to work a split shift staring at 7.00 finishing at 6pm - exact hours to be discussed at interview.
Visits to the school would be warmly welcomed. Please telephone Mrs Jolliffe PA to the Head teacher, 0114 255 2347 to make an appointment.
Commitment to safeguarding
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and safety of children and young people; we expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974. Shortlisted candidates will be asked to disclose any cautions or convictions prior to interview. The amendments to the ROA Exceptions Order 1975 (2013 & 2020) provide that certain convictions and cautions are 'protected' and are therefore not subject to disclosure to employers. The successful candidate will complete an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check, internet check and a Children’s Barred List check.
