We’re looking for an experienced and forward-thinking On Bus Technology Manager to join our Bus Engineering team!

This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in ensuring our onbus technology operates reliably across the network, helping us provide a seamless and inclusive travel experience for customers across Greater Manchester!

Your Role

In this role, you will:

  • Oversee the day-to-day and lifecycle management of all onbus technology assets.
  • Work closely with operators, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure systems meet contractual KPIs and service levels.
  • Lead on identifying and resolving technical issues, including coordinating diagnostics, facilitating repairs, and managing asset tracking.
  • Provide clear, accurate reporting on system performance, using insights to drive improvements.
  • Offer specialist advice across commercial and operational functions, influencing the procurement and implementation of ITS (Intelligent Transport Systems).
  • Build strong working relationships across TfGM and with external partners, ensuring smooth delivery and continuous improvement.

As our On Bus Technology Manager, you’ll be joining at an exciting moment. This role sits at the heart of our Bee Network delivery, ensuring the technology on our buses performs reliably and consistently for every passenger. You’ll help shape how the function develops, influence the future direction of onbus systems, and work closely with partners across the region to support a highquality, customerfocused service.

Essential experience and attributes include:

  • Significant experience in a similar technology or asset management role, with the ability to manage competing deadlines.
  • Strong analytical skills and commercial acumen, with the ability to translate data into meaningful insights.
  • Experience managing complex technology contracts and ITbased systems.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to influence, collaborate and build productive relationships.
  • A proactive approach to problemsolving and continuous improvement.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Degree-level education (or equivalent experience) in a relevant subject.

This is a permanent role with a salary of £47,539 - £52,866
