About the Role

This is a full-time position for a dedicated educator who is as comfortable with a lesson plan as they are with a chef's knife. The successful candidate will lead the Food Technology department, delivering engaging, high-quality lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4. The role involves balancing theoretical knowledge-such as nutrition, food safety, and biochemistry-with hands-on practical sessions that build student confidence and technical ability.

Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
  • Willingness to collaborate with the wider Design & Technology department.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.

  • Safety Audits: Conducting regular checks on kitchen equipment and hygiene.
  • Ingredient Prep: Coordinating with technicians to ensure all supplies are ready.
  • Parental Engagement: Providing feedback during parents' evenings and reports.
  • Extracurricular: Running cooking clubs or "Bake Off" style competitions.
  • Continuous Professional Development: Staying updated on nutritional guidelines and pedagogy.
  • Behaviour Management: Implementing the school's behaviour policy consistently.
  • Mentor ship: Supporting students in making healthy lifestyle choices.
  • Inventory Management: Overseeing the ordering and storage of all food supplies.
