About the job:
Pindar Nursery is based with the Early Years Support Team and is part of the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Support Service. The nursery supports children aged 2 to 5 with SEND and /or complex health needs. Lunches are cooked and prepared at Westgate’s Special School and delivered to the nursery by taxi every morning
We are looking for a dedicated kitchen assistant with experience of food preparation to be in charge of serving meals to the children at the nursery.
Your Role
As a Kitchen Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting the daily mealtime routine for nursery children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Your responsibilities will include receiving food deliveries, checking and safely storing items, keeping meals at the correct temperature, and serving nutritious food in a calm, caring, and hygienic manner. You will work closely with nursery staff to ensure each child’s individual dietary and support needs are met, helping to create a positive, safe, and inclusive mealtime experience.
What you’ll need
It doesn’t matter if you’ve never worked as a Kitchen Assistant before. What does matter to us the most, is taking pride in what you do and able to learn. You’ll be reliable, punctual, diligent, and enthusiastic and be able to work with minimal supervision at times. Along with a willing attitude to promote and ensure the good reputation of the nursery and be a helpful member of staff. You’ll be approachable and personable, and happy to speak with staff and children, whilst proving great customer service to all those who come into contact. You’ll work flexibly and share in workloads, particularly during periods of pressure and be able to carry out all duties to a very high standard. The ability to be flexible and maintain an excellent sense of humour is essential.Due to the nature of this role, it is subject to an Enhanced DBS check.
