About the role

As our Temporary Accommodation Officer you’ll be providing housing management functions for residents of temporary accommodation that are leased or owned by the Council.

This is a varied role where you’ll be supporting the Homelessness Prevention Officers to prevent and relieve homelessness, increasing housing options for people who are homeless by developing links with local landlords and housing providers to support delivery of the housing service in accordance with the Corporate and Housing Strategies including the Council’s Homelessness and Rough Sleeper Strategy.

You’ll provide advice, assistance, and information through office interviews, home visits, telephone calls, written correspondence, and e-mail, undertake the sign-up of clients into temporary accommodation, supporting more vulnerable clients to set up utilities and claim Housing Benefit and offering assistance during their time in temporary accommodation with holistic support, and other related duties.

You’ll be working as part of a multi-functional team of housing staff to provide a seamless, qualitative and customer focused service with customer care at the heart of everything that you do.

About you

You’ll have previous experience of providing housing management related services within the social housing or private rented sector with experience of providing support and guidance to vulnerable people.

Alongside this you’ll have a working knowledge of the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017, Housing Act 1996, and Homelessness Act 2002 and an awareness of the current housing issues and the local and national political and social framework within which local authority housing services operate.

A full valid Driving Licence and a basic DBS check are essential.
