Hours: Full-time | Monday to Friday | Term Time Only
Contract: Ongoing temporary with the potential to go permanent
Start Date: January 2026 onwards
Pay: Competitive, based on experience
Some students don't struggle because they don't want to learn - they struggle because learning hasn't always worked for them. That's where you come in.
Thrive Recruitment Group is working closely with schools across Devon and Cornwall to recruit Student Engagement & Inclusion Mentors - dedicated, compassionate professionals who can help children and young people feel supported, understood, and ready to succeed.
This is a Learning Mentor-style role, focused on helping pupils overcome barriers to education.
You'll work with children and young people who may be:
- Experiencing social, emotional, or behavioural challenges
- Living with SEN or SEMH needs
- At risk of disengagement or exclusion
- Struggling with confidence, emotional regulation, or transitions
Your role is to build trust, provide consistency, and help pupils re-engage both academically and emotionally.
No two days are the same, but your work will include:
- Supporting pupils 1:1 or in small groups, in and out of the classroom
- Helping students stay focused, motivated, and engaged with learning
- Building strong, trusting relationships that promote positive behaviour
- Supporting emotional regulation, resilience, and confidence
- Working alongside class teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams
- Supporting reintegration, transitions, and long-term development
- Promoting inclusion and positive school experiences for every learner
You'll often be the person who helps a student turn a difficult day into a successful one.
We're looking for people with the right attitude and experience:
- Experience supporting children or young people (education, care, youth work, mentoring)
- A calm, patient, and non-judgmental approach
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport quickly
- Confidence working independently and as part of a team
- A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential for travel between schools)
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
We put people first - always.
You'll benefit from:
- A supportive, friendly team who value your work
- Competitive pay, paid weekly
- Flexible, local opportunities
- Ongoing placements with potential for permanent roles
- Access to training and CPD opportunities
If you're passionate about helping young people feel included, supported, and capable of success, we'd love to hear from you.
Send your CV to apply or get in touch to find out more.
