A Vacancy at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Applications are invited for the post of Clinical Fellow Higher (ST3-5/ST6+) in Radiology (Breast) at the Cambridge Breast Unit, part of Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Trust (CUH) to commence from 5th August 2026 until 3rd August 2027.
The post holder will also be expected to participate in the Senior Radiology Registrar on-call rota, currently a full shift pattern, albeit with Consultant supervision.
This timetable will be flexible and chosen by the candidate to include sub-specialist reporting sessions as well as multidisciplinary team meetings.
In order to be considered applicants must meet theessential criteriastated in the job description and have:
1. Completed a minimum of four years of training as a Specialty Registrar in Radiology in the UK or proof of equivalent training.
2. Full Registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council is required by the time of commencing the post.
3. Experience working in acute radiology / recent experience with out of hours on call.
4. Within 5 years of CCT or equivalent completion of training or within a current training post.
5. FRCR 2B examination is not essential but desired.
Full Registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council at time of starting the post in August 2026 is mandatory.
The applicant must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC’s Good Medical Practice (2013). Non-UK applicants must possess the IELTS/OET exam before obtaining a GMC licence to practice.

Specialist Breast Imaging (80%):The successful candidate will have the opportunity to obtain 1 year highly specialist training in a Breast Imaging at Cambridge Breast Unit.
The Unit provides a comprehensive outpatient facility for the diagnosis and management of breast disease both in the symptomatic and screening settings. The breast service is provided by a cohesive, highly motivated, multidisciplinary team. The Unit treats over 500 breast cancers per annum (approximately 6,000 symptomatic patients referral each year and 20,000 screening patients including high risk screening). Patients and the management of all breast disease is driven by unit guidelines and all patients are considered for local and national clinical trials. The Unit has the latest imaging technology including Tomosynthesis, Contrast Enhanced Spectral Mammography (CESM), elastography, CESM biopsy, MRI guided biopsy, stereotactic and ultrasound vacuum biopsies. The Cambridge Breast Unit is committed to delivering excellence in both clinical care and breast cancer research. As a result, the unit has now developed a national and international reputation with many Consultant with a national and international profile.
General radiology sessions (20%):Reporting chest and body CT, presentation at clinico-radiological meetings.
