ABOUT THE ROLE

Nottingham Playhouse is seeking a practical, hands-on Facilities Manager to ensure our Grade II* listed building operates safely,
efficiently and in line with our values and mission.

This is a key operational role responsible for building management, maintenance, compliance and day-to-day facilities operations.
You will lead a small team, manage contractors and act as the main point of contact for facilities, health & safety and security
across the organisation.

You will take a proactive, solution-focused approach—keeping the building safe, functional and welcoming for staff, artists,
visitors and audiences, while supporting sustainability and continuous improvement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

* Lead day-to-day building and facilities management, including planned and reactive maintenance.

* Manage contractors, service contracts and compliance testing to ensure high-quality, cost-effective delivery.

* Oversee health & safety, fire safety, security systems and statutory compliance.

* Manage cleaning, stage door operations and room setups for hires and events.

* Monitor utilities, building systems and maintenance budgets.

* Act as senior keyholder and provide out-of-hours emergency support when required.

* Champion sustainability and environmental best practice across building operations.

* Line manage facilities staff and support performance, training and development.

ABOUT YOU

We’re looking for someone with:

* Proven experience in a facilities, estates or premises management role.

* Strong practical knowledge of building maintenance and contractor management.

* Significant experience in health & safety compliance and legislation.

* A hands-on, problem-solving approach with good mechanical/electrical awareness.

* Experience managing budgets, systems and operational processes.

* Excellent organisational, communication and IT skills.

* A proactive, collaborative attitude and enthusiasm for theatre and live events.

* Willingness to work occasional evenings/weekends and respond to emergencies.

DESIRABLE

* NEBOSH or IOSH qualifications.

* Experience with BMS, sustainability initiatives or capital projects.

* Duty management/event operations experience.

* Knowledge of IT infrastructure support.

WHY JOIN US?

You’ll play a vital role in shaping the future of Nottingham Playhouse, supporting an organisation that champions creativity,
community and inclusion. You’ll join a warm, collaborative team, with the flexibility to work both onsite and remotely.
