This position offers an excellent opportunity to become part of our team and provide support across the organization.
We pay an attractive salary of £47,181 - £50,269 and offer access to training and development opportunities.
Achieving success in this position requires the ability to conduct thorough and consistently structured investigations, encompassing both conventional trading standards activities and the complexities of financial crime.
As a Trading Standards Officer Accredited Financial Investigator, you will play a vital role in protecting our community by conducting inspections, addressing complaints, and gathering evidence to prepare robust case files for court proceedings. You will take the lead on complex financial investigations, including confiscation, restraint, cash seizures, money laundering, and civil recovery. Utilizing financial intelligence, you will work to uncover criminal activity and help recover assets, making a real difference in the fight against financial crime.
The role also requires working closely with legal teams and enforcement partners, providing clear guidance to businesses and the public, and contributing to wider projects that strengthen consumer protection and regulatory compliance within the Trading Standards Service.
For the role, we ask that you:
1. Are a fully accredited financial investigator with current validated CPD assessed by the National Crime Agency POCC Team which includes Part 8, Part 5 and Part 2 of the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002.
2. Have knowledge of Trading Standards functions and associated legislation and extensive knowledge of financial investigations including confiscation, restraint, civil recovery and money laundering.
3. Hold a full UK Category B (Cars) driving licence and the use of a motor vehicle insured for business / work purposes to travel throughout the borough to attend emergency incidents and transport relevant equipment.
We have excellent benefits including the Local Government Pension Scheme, agile working patterns and staff discount schemes.
