Join Quantum Care as a Non‑Executive Director
Help shape the future of high‑quality care for older people
Quantum Care is seeking passionate, skilled individuals from across our communities to join our Board as Non‑Executive Directors. This is an opportunity to influence the strategic direction of a leading not‑for‑profit care provider and ensure that older people receive the dignity, support and compassion they deserve.
A recent Board skills audit highlighted several areas that are essential to our future development. We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in:
• Clinical practice
• Property development
• ICT
• Local Authority partnerships
• Risk management and strategic planning
We are committed to delivering excellent care within responsible financial boundaries, and we want our Board to reflect the diversity of the people we serve. We especially welcome applications from women, people from ethnic minority backgrounds, and people living with disabilities.
What We’re Looking For
Experience and Knowledge
• A track record of working effectively as part of a team—ideally at Board or senior management level.
• Experience leading teams or managing services at a senior level.
• Strategic planning and financial management capability.
• Professional expertise in one or more of the following: clinical practice, ICT, property development, or Local Authority relationships.
• Understanding of the care needs of frail older people.
• Awareness of the responsibilities of a Non‑Executive Director and the principles of good governance.
Abilities and Skills
• Strong collaborative skills and the ability to work constructively with fellow Board members and the Executive Team.
• Clear, confident communication across all levels of the organisation.
• Creative, objective thinking and the confidence to challenge constructively.
• Ability to analyse written and financial reports and identify key issues.
• Sound judgement and the ability to make balanced, informed decisions.
• Willingness to act as an ambassador for Quantum Care at both formal and informal events.
Personal Qualities
• Integrity, common sense, resilience and strength of character.
• Alignment with Quantum Care’s mission, values and commitment to high‑quality care.
• Availability to attend seven Board meetings per year, including two full‑day sessions, as well as Sub‑Committee meetings and Home visits as required.
Board and Sub‑Committee meetings are typically held during the working day, with scheduling shaped around Directors’ availability. Candidates are likely to live in, or close to, one of the counties we serve.
