Job Title: Graduate Software Design Engineer
Division: FTV Proclad International Limited
Hours of Work: Full-time – 37 hours per week.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Software Design Engineer to join our team and learn new skills and experience whilst enhancing those already attained. This role is perfect for a graduate excited about modern software engineering and AI‑powered tools. We are seeking a highly motivated Graduate Software Design Engineer to join our growing engineering team. This role is ideal for a recent graduate with strong problem‑solving skills, a passion for modern software development practices, and a desire to work with emerging AI technologies such as Microsoft Copilot plugin and agent development.
Outline of Roles & Responsibilities (not restricted to):
As part of our team, you’ll contribute to designing, building, and testing high‑quality software solutions while working closely with senior engineers and product teams. This position offers excellent growth opportunities in both software engineering and AI‑driven extensibility development. The primary duties and responsibilities are listed as follows:
• Design, develop, and maintain software applications following secure and scalable engineering practices.
• Use Visual Studio Code as a primary development environment for coding, debugging, and testing software components.
• Assist in building and integrating Copilot plugins and agents, contributing to AI‑driven automation and workflow enhancements.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including production, Quality, IT etc
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and sprint ceremonies.
• Write clean, testable, well‑documented code following company standards.
• Support the team in investigating, troubleshooting, and resolving software issues.
• Continuously learn new technologies, frameworks, and tools relevant to the role.
Skills Experience and Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Strong foundation in software engineering principles, algorithms, and data structures.
• Experience using Visual Studio Code for development projects.
• Familiarity with at least one programming language (e.g., JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, C#, or similar).
• Understanding of REST APIs, JSON, and modern web services.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team‑oriented, agile environment.
Preferred Skills:
• Exposure to or interest in developing Microsoft Copilot plugins or agents, including working with REST APIs and AI‑augmented workflows.
• Basic understanding of Microsoft 365 development tools, Power Platform, or Microsoft Graph.
• Experience with source‑control systems.
• Understanding of cloud platforms.
• Knowledge of OpenAPI/Swagger specifications.
Candidate Requirements
The candidate must have the ability to work as part of a team, and on their own using their own initiative. Where required the operator will, as part of the team culture, develop the skill sets and flexibility required to provide continuous improvement and customer focus.
The candidate must be flexible wherever possible to meet the company and customer requirements.
The candidate must be able to communicate with customers, customers’ representatives, external inspection authorities and with all levels of the organisation.
