This role covers a wide range of responsibilities including Resource Planning, Recruitment and Risk Management. This is a high profile, demanding and stretching role within a fast paced, changeable and demanding environment. The successful applicant must be a self-starter, have the ability to oversee multiple strands of work simultaneously, prioritising accordingly and be an exceptional leader, inspiring and empowering others to deliver.
The role requires close working with business partners from the central areas of DWP and wider Government and the establishment of good working relationships at all levels of the operational organisation. The post holder must be skilled at building and maintaining relationships at all levels.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities include:
- Using centrally provided resource plans and developing meaningful CMS workforce plans, making recommendations for managing CMS resource requirements to support the director and deputy directors deliver a continuously improved service delivery.
- Supporting the achievement of CMS Operational customer outcomes and service delivery within agreed headcount and budget.
- Leading and coordinating CMS recruitment activities, providing recommendations and negotiating with partners.
- Maintaining CMS’s strong operational governance arrangements including change delivery and risk management. Leading on the regular review of the CMS risk management frame work.
- Work effectively with Child Maintenance Service and wider DWP colleagues, to ensure provision of high-quality briefings, including strategic ministerial briefings and National Audit Office briefings.
- Playing an effective role as part of the CMS Senior Leadership Team.
- Representing CMS at a range of DWP senior stakeholder forums including Risk Management, Deployment Leads and Workforce Planning.
- Being a visible leader for the team, taking accountability and leading with commitment and passion, challenging self and others to improve.
- Ensuring the Performance, Planning & Technology Team operate through successful management of HR/Finance policies and corporate governance.
