Summary
Part-Time Midday Meal Supervisor
Location: Barnet, N20
Contract: Part-time, term time only
Hours: Monday to Friday, 12:00pm – 1:30pm
We are currently seeking a dedicated, caring, and enthusiastic Midday Meal Supervisor to join a welcoming and supportive primary school in Barnet (N20). This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who enjoys working with children and wants to play an important role in their daily school experience.
About the Role
As a Midday Meal Supervisor, you will be responsible for ensuring pupils are safe, happy, and well-supported during the lunchtime period. This includes supervising children in the dining hall, playground, and other designated areas, as well as encouraging positive behaviour, social interaction, and inclusive play.
A key part of this role involves working closely with children who have Special Educational Needs (SEN). You will be expected to provide appropriate support, reassurance, and guidance, helping pupils to manage routines, social situations, and transitions throughout lunchtime.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervising pupils during lunch and playtime
Supporting children with eating, routines, and positive behaviour
Providing additional support to pupils with SEN as required
Encouraging safe, inclusive, and respectful play
Managing minor issues and reporting concerns to school staff
Ensuring school policies and safeguarding procedures are followed at all times
The Ideal Candidate:
We are looking for someone who is patient, calm, and nurturing, with a genuine interest in supporting children’s wellbeing. You may already have experience in a school, nursery, childcare, or SEN setting, or be looking for a part-time role that fits around other commitments.
Essential / Desirable Criteria:
Experience working with children (school or similar setting preferred)
Experience supporting children with SEN (highly desirable)
A caring, reliable, and responsible approach
Strong communication and teamwork skills
A valid DBS certificate, or willingness to obtain one
