The Opportunity
An established independent small animal veterinary practice in Cheshire is seeking a Veterinary Surgeon to join its friendly, supportive, and highly skilled team. This is an excellent opportunity for a vet looking for a great work–life balance, modern facilities, and a genuinely collaborative environment.
The role offers a flexible working pattern of 40 hours over 4 days, with openness to discussing 30 hours per week. There is no out-of-hours work, and Saturday mornings are worked on a 1:3 rota (8:30am–12:30pm), emergencies only.
The Practice
The practice is proud of its independent status and strong team culture. It is currently home to:
• 6 Veterinary Surgeons
• 10 Registered Veterinary Nurses (RVNs)
• 2 Student Veterinary Nurses (SVNs)
• 7 Receptionists
The team is passionate about delivering exceptional veterinary care while supporting one another in a positive and professional environment.
Facilities & Equipment
The practice is exceptionally well equipped, allowing vets to work cases to a high clinical standard in-house:
• 3 Operating Theatres
• X-ray and Advanced Imaging Suite (Ultrasound & Endoscopy)
• Dedicated Dental Theatre with Dental X-ray
• In-house Laboratory (Bloods, Urinalysis, Microscopy)
• Laser Therapy
• Electrocautery Equipment
The Role
This small animal Veterinary Surgeon role is based on-site in a popular Cheshire market town, known for its vibrant community, rich history, and beautiful surrounding countryside. With excellent transport links to Manchester and Chester, the location offers the perfect balance between town living and rural escapes.
The successful candidate will:
• Deliver consultations and surgical procedures (competence in both is required)
• Diagnose and treat a wide range of medical conditions
• Perform routine and non-routine surgery
• Provide preventative healthcare and client education
• Contribute to laboratory diagnostics and case workups
• Work collaboratively with vets, nurses, and support staff to ensure the highest standards of patient care
Candidate Requirements
• RCVS registration (essential)
• Solid background in veterinary medicine and surgery
• Confidence in consultations and routine surgery
• Strong diagnostic and laboratory skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• A compassionate, client-focused approach
• Ability to thrive in a team-oriented, independent practice
Salary & Benefits
