Crynodeb

An exciting new opportunity has arisen for the position of Key Cities Policy Officer working across a national network of 23 cities across England and Wales.

We are looking for candidates with a strong passion for national politics to help drive forward and promote our shared economic interests to central government.

About us

Key Cities is a diverse national network of 23 cities and towns across England and Wales that represents urban living in the UK.

We have a combined population of over six million people and contribute over £150 billion each year to the UK economy. Our members represent all of the major political parties and include some of the fastest growing local economies in the country. We are a united voice for urban Britain, working to champion our places to unlock devolution, deliver prosperity, protect the environment and deliver innovative solutions for the challenges we face.

The role is part of a team managing the Key Cities Secretariat within Salford City Council. We are a values-based organisation and we encourage innovation, welcome diversity and encourage new and different ways of doing things!

About you

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated person with a strong passion for national politics and local government.

You will have proven experience in policy development and excellent written and verbal communication skills to be able to present complex issues clearly and concisely.

You will also be expected to adopt a flexible and problem-solving approach to work, demonstrate diplomacy regardless of political stance and ensure confidentiality and sensitivity in all that you do.

About the role

You will provide day to day policy support to Key Cities working closely with elected leaders and officers to deliver the network’s key priorities and support its lobbying and communications campaigns.

As part of your role, you will directly support the Key Cities Chair and Deputy Chairs, and build effective relationships with member authorities.

Using research and evidence-based insight, you will also produce high quality briefings and reports, organise and attend meetings on behalf of the network, lead in managing the Key Cities website and support the work of the Key Cities All Party Parliamentary Group.

This is a fixed term post until 31st March 2027.

Please apply with a CV and covering statement, outlining how you meet the criteria set out in the Role Profile.
