Personal Care Assistant for a young person P/T@ £12.21/hr in BD11 - FTE - £23.8k

Apply at UKCIL.com. Reference: 2e5aa760

We are looking for a kind, energetic and reliable Personal Assistant to support our 4-year-old autistic son.

He is a happy, funny, curious and cheeky little boy who is an absolute pleasure to be around. He is very active, loves being outdoors, and especially loves water, so this role would suit someone who enjoys an active day and can think quickly.

Our son has no awareness of danger (for example around roads), so he wears reins when out and about and needs close supervision at all times. He is still in nappies, so applicants must be comfortable with personal care.

The role will involve:

  • Providing one-to-one support in and outside the home
  • Supporting play, outdoor activities and outings
  • Ensuring his safety at all times, particularly when out and about
  • Supporting with personal care, including nappy changes
  • Encouraging communication, independence and confidence through play
  • Following routines and guidance set by parents
The right person will be:
  • Patient, calm and playful
  • Quick on their feet and able to keep up with an active child
  • Reliable, responsible and safety-aware
  • Confident working one-to-one with a young child
  • Warm, kind and able to build a trusting relationship
Hours:
  • Every Saturday for 4 hours
  • 9:00am–1:00pm or 10:00am–2:00pm(we are flexible)
Essential requirements:
  • Full driving licence
  • Access to a car with appropriate insurance
  • Willingness to learn about autism (experience is welcome but not essential)
You will be fully supported by parents, with guidance and training provided. This is a rewarding role for someone who genuinely enjoys working with children and wants to make a positive difference to a child’s daily life.
