COVER SUPERVISOR

Start Date: September 2026

Pay Scale: KR6 15 Pro rata £20,413 (FTE £26,900)

Hours: 32.5 hours per week (including 1 hour unpaid lunch break) 8.30am – 4pm

Working weeks: 39 weeks (term time plus INSET days)

We are looking to appoint a Cover Supervisor to manage classrooms in the absence of the teacher and deliver pre-prepared lesson plans. The Cover Supervisor must maintain a positive and productive learning environment, supporting students with their learning and behaviour in order to achieve their full potential. We would like to encourage applications from individuals who have experience of working with pupils and are confident in managing a classroom. Successful candidates would also demonstrate strong communication and organisation skills. This post would suit a recently qualified teacher yet to take up a teaching position, or someone wishing to embark on teacher training in the future. Job shares and a flexibility in working hours may be considered.

Purpose of Role:

Manage classrooms in the absence of the teacher and deliver pre-prepared lesson plans.

Summary of Key Responsibilities:

• maintain a positive and productive learning environment
• supporting students with their learning and behaviour
• Deliver pre-prepared lesson plans
• To set homework previously prepared by the teacher
• Establishing trust with pupils, interacting with them according to individual needs.
• Creating a safe, positive, supportive learning environment.
• Promoting good behaviour, dealing promptly with conflict and incidents in line with established
• policies, encouraging pupils to take responsibility for their behaviour.
• Use rewards and sanctions available on Bromcom, in line with behaviour policy
• Collecting completed work and returning it to the teacher.
• Providing feedback to teachers on pupil’s achievement, progress, and if any problems.
• Supervise Sixth Form students in study sessions

Essential Strong communication and organisational skills Flexibility and enthusiasm, and an ability to take the initiative as required Motivated to work with children and young people Strong pastoral instincts and a commitment to excellent pastoral care and safeguarding for all pupils A good standard of computer skills and literacy
