Combined Salary (36 Hours): £26,480 - £27,273

Hours Per Week: Total 36 hours

Base Location: Dukinfield Town Hall

The Role

The Registration Service provides a statutory service for the registration of births, deaths, marriages and civil partnerships in Tameside and is committed to maintaining a high level of integrity and reliability.

In addition to ensuring statutory compliance and public protection there is a responsibility to uphold the reputation of civil registration.

We are looking for a confident, reliable, flexible and enthusiastic person to assist in providing a clerk/reception service for personal callers to the Register Office. The post holder will deputise as required for Registrars to cover the registration of births, deaths and civil marriages, both at the office and other approved premises within the district. This will include weekend working to cover ceremonies on an overtime rota basis when required.

Good IT skills are a requirement as various IT packages are used to issue certificates and take appointment bookings.

About You

You must be customer focused and have experience in dealing with customers both face to face and by telephone. Some customer contact will involve sensitive matters, and you should have the ability to deal with these in a tactful and diplomatic manner.

You will be expected to have effective communication and interpersonal skills, having the ability to deal sensitively with members of the public.

Good organisational skills are essential; you must be able to prioritise tasks to meet daily demand by using your own initiative.
